What it is
The Digital Nomad Visa is a Visitor (V) visa created for people who earn their living remotely from sources outside Colombia — salaried remote employees, freelancers, and owners of an online business registered abroad.
It lets you base yourself in Colombia for up to two years without taking a local job. It does not by itself lead to permanent residency, but the time can help you plan a move to a Migrant (M) visa later.
Who qualifies
- Remote work for a company or clients outside Colombia (employment contract, services agreement, or proof you own a foreign-registered business).
- Stable monthly income of at least 3× the Colombian minimum wage (2026: COP 5,252,715 / month — about US$1,460 at ~3,600 COP/US$), shown on the last 3 months of bank statements.
- Valid passport with at least 6 months remaining and a blank page.
- Health insurance valid in Colombia for the full stay, covering illness, accident, hospitalization and repatriation.
- A motivation letter describing your remote activity.
How long it takes
Validity: Up to 2 years
Processing: About 2–4 weeks (15–30 business days) after filing. Timelines depend on the Ministry's workload and whether they request additional documents — we monitor your file and respond fast to keep it moving.
Government fees
Government fees: ≈ US$52 study fee (paid when you file), plus an issuance fee of roughly US$170–230 once approved. These are paid by you directly to the Colombian government and are separate from our service fee.
Step by step
- 1Initial Zoom call — we confirm you qualify and choose the Digital Nomad route over alternatives.
- 2Data-gathering call — we list exactly which documents you need and in what format.
- 3You collect income proof, the remote-work letter/contract and your insurance policy.
- 4We translate (where required) and coordinate apostille of any foreign documents.
- 5Submission session — we complete the online application with you and pay the study fee.
- 6The Ministry reviews; we respond to any clarification request on your behalf.
- 7On approval you pay the issuance fee and we walk you through downloading the e-visa.
